We rented hakama in Kawagoe and enjoyed sightseeing around the city!

This time, since the Rikawafuku Kawagoe Store was running a pre-graduation ceremony campaign for the class of 2023, we used the Kawagoe Hakama Hair Set Plan with our student friends.
Rikawafuku Kawagoe Store has so many cute kimono!! The staff also created an adorable hairstyle for us and were incredibly kind. It was also conveniently located near the station!
Although I had never rented a kimono in Kawagoe before, I had always wanted to try it, so it turned out to be a wonderful experience!
Introducing Hakama Rental Coordinations Perfect for Kawagoe
We chose two styles: a Taisho Roman style coordination combining an antique kimono with a yellow hakama, and a girly coordination combining a lace kimono with a white hakama! Although the kimono styles were different, we matched accessories to create a twin-look vibe!
Girly Coordination with Lace Kimono and White Hakama
We paired a trendy, calm brown-toned lace kimono with a white hakama. For footwear, we brought our own boots to match! Since hakama are often associated with boots, it felt perfect.
Rikawafuku Kawagoe Store also offers a wide selection of accessories, and we rented this pearl bag too!

Taisho Roman Coordination with Antique Kimono and Yellow Hakama
We combined an antique kimono with a yellow hakama to create a retro-inspired look. We matched hair accessories with our friends and chose similar fluffy obi ornaments.
Although the style was different from the lace kimono, the matching accessories tied everything together without looking mismatched!

First, Visiting Kurazukuri Street – Kawagoe’s Famous Spot
Since it was December, the shop wasn’t very crowded, so including kimono/hakama selection, dressing, and hairstyling, we were ready to go in about an hour. With so many kimono and hakama available, it was really hard to choose!
After dressing, we headed to the famous Kurazukuri streets of Kawagoe. The Taisho Roman-style scenery was a perfect match for hakama rental! It was just a 10-minute walk from Rikawafuku Kawagoe Store.
Every spot was photogenic with kimono, so we highly recommend kimono rental for Kawagoe sightseeing! We even took photos with our instruments, creating a graduation-like vibe.
Taking Kimono Photos at Toki no Kane (Bell of Time)
We also took photos in front of Kawagoe’s famous landmark, the Bell of Time. The weather was great, and since it was winter, there weren’t many people, so we got really cute kimono shots!
The hakama were styled so that even the back decorations were visible, making the coordination extra adorable.
Exploring Around Rikawafuku Kawagoe Store
We also visited a nearby shrine around the Rikawafuku Kawagoe Store. Since it was the end of the year, we prayed with our wishes for the coming year.
On weekdays, Kawagoe is less crowded and easier to explore, though the staff mentioned that weekends and holidays attract more tourists.
For students, visiting on weekdays is a great option! Rikawafuku also offers student discount plans including hairstyling, so that’s highly recommended too.

Since we wore boots, even in winter our feet weren’t cold, and it was easy to walk. We recommend bringing your own boots when renting hakama!
The staff took so many cute photos for us—thank you so much!
