It's typically about one month in advance. For December reservations, the booking starts at the end of October.

What if I'm too tall or too short to wear a kimono? (For women)

A.

If you are short: If you are 140 cm or taller, adjustments can be made during the dressing process. If you are tall: Up to around 170 cm, you can be dressed normally. If you are over 170 cm, the sleeves may be slightly shorter and the hem may be a bit shorter.

What if I'm too tall or too short to wear a kimono? (For men)

A.

For men, we offer sizes from S to 3L, so it's no problem to wear a kimono up to about 190 cm in height. If you are over 190 cm, there is a possibility that the hem may be shorter, but it is still wearable.

Q.

What if I have a larger waist? Can I still wear a kimono?

A.

There are no specific restrictions, but our kimonos are available in free size only. They are generally suitable for individuals with a waist or hip measurement of around 90 cm. Please note that antique kimonos are one-of-a-kind, and there may be variations in size, making it a bit more challenging in such cases.

Do you offer children's kimonos? Do you provide services for Shichi-Go-San?

We do not offer children's kimonos, so we do not provide services for Shichi-Go-San.

Q.

Do you provide rental umbrellas, boots, or overcoats as options?

A.

We do not provide rentals. You can use your own boots (short boots are recommended). For women, Tippet and Shawl are available as cold-weather options. Male sets include an overcoat (only during the winter season).

I want to book different plans for a group.

A.

Please make separate reservations for each person, or inform us of the changes at the reception on the day of the appointment.

Can men use the student discount plan?

We apologize, but men cannot use the student discount plan.

Do the fees vary depending on the type of kimono or yukata?

A.

The fees remain the same regardless of the type of kimono or yukata you choose. There is no difference in fees based on the type of kimono or yukata, so feel free to make your selection.

Is it possible to reserve a kimono in advance?

A.

We do not offer reservations in advance. Kimonos are chosen on a first-come, first-served basis upon arrival.

Can I use a credit card for payment?

A.

To eliminate the burden of fees and offer affordable kimono rental, we only accept cash payments. We appreciate your understanding.

Q.

Do the available kimonos and yukatas vary based on the rental plan?

A.

You can choose from all available kimonos and yukatas regardless of the rental plan (except for furisode and houmongi, which have an additional fee).

Q.

How can I check the reservation availability and congestion status?

A.

You can check the reservation availability by proceeding to the reservation screen for each rental plan and selecting your desired date and time.

Do you cater to foreign visitors?

A.

Yes, we cater to foreign visitors. Our staff can assist in English and Chinese during business hours, except for their break times.

How close to the reservation time can I make a same-day reservation?

A.

You can make a same-day reservation up to 10 minutes before the reservation time. For example, if your reservation is at 10:00, you can make a reservation on the website until 9:50.

Is it possible to change the reservation time for kimono rental?

A.

If you want to change your reservation time, you need to cancel your previous reservation on the reservation confirmation page and make a new reservation for your desired time. >Reservation Confirmation Page

What should I do if the desired reservation time is not available?

A.

We keep the website up to date with the latest information, including phone reservations. We recommend checking the website regularly for cancellations or exploring alternative time slots and locations.

I completed my reservation, but I didn't receive a confirmation email. Is my reservation confirmed?

A.

If the reservation completion screen was displayed, your reservation is confirmed. However, if you registered with a carrier email (such as SoftBank, EZweb, or Docomo), you may not receive the confirmation email due to system settings. If you wish to receive a reservation confirmation email, please make a new reservation through a PC email address.

I accidentally made two reservations. What should I do?

Please proceed to the reservation cancellation process from the reservation confirmation page to cancel one of the reservations.

Is it possible to make reservations by phone?

A.

We primarily request reservations to be made through our website.

I am pregnant. Can I still rent a kimono?

A.

We apologize, but we cannot accommodate pregnant individuals. Kimono dressing involves constriction around the abdomen, which is a safety precaution we follow.

I am of advanced age. Can I still use your services?

A.

Our services are available to individuals of all ages, and we welcome families using our services, including mothers and grandmothers together, among others.

Is it possible to have someone else help me wear my own kimono or yukata?

A.

Unfortunately, we do not offer assistance for wearing your own kimono or yukata to prevent issues such as damage or staining. We appreciate your understanding.

Can I leave my large items like suitcases or strollers for storage?

A.

We can store items like suitcases or strollers for an additional fee, ranging from ¥1,000 to ¥3,000 (depending on the season). Other items that fit in a luggage bag can be stored for free, but there is a fee for items that don't fit in a luggage bag.

Is it possible to see the kimonos and yukatas in advance?

A.

You can arrange a prior visit to see the kimonos and yukatas, but we do not offer advance reservations for them.

Is it possible to change kimono or yukata rental plans or options on the day of the rental?

A.

Yes, it's possible. On the day of the rental, please inform the staff at the store if you wish to make changes to your rental plan or options.

If I'm undecided about adding options when making a reservation, can I decide on the options at the store on the day of the rental?

A.

On the day of the rental, we will confirm the availability of options at the store, so it's possible to add options on the spot.

Are small items like pouches and tabi socks included in the rental plan?

Pouches and tabi socks are included in the rental plan fee.

Can international students use the Kimono Hair Set Student Discount Plan? Is a student ID required?

A.

Yes, international students can use it. As long as you have a student ID, you can use the Kimono Hair Set Student Discount Plan regardless of your country or age.

Is there a difference between the Kimono Hair Set Student Discount Plan and the regular Hair Set Plan?

A.

There is no difference. The only distinction is that the fee is discounted for students.

Can university students use the School Excursion Plan?

A.

The School Excursion Plan is intended for elementary, middle, and high school students who come to Kyoto on a school excursion. University students are not eligible for this plan.

Can female couples use the Couple Plan?

A.

Female couples can use the Couple Plan, but the service provided is the same as the Couple Plan, which includes kimono dressing with hair set for one female and kimono dressing for one male.

Can women wear men's kimonos?

A.

Yes, women can wear men's kimonos, but the fee for the Men's Plan will apply.

I will be late for my reservation. Is it necessary to inform someone?

A.

If you are more than 20 minutes late, your reservation will be automatically canceled. If you expect to be more than 20 minutes late, please make a new reservation.

Regarding Reservation Cancellation

If I want to cancel, what should I do?

A.

You can cancel your kimono rental via the reservation confirmation page on the website.

Please tell me about the cancellation fee.

A.

If you cancel online by the day before your reservation, there is no cancellation fee. If you cancel on the day of your reservation, a 100% fee will be charged.

About Returns

Q.

How long does it take for the return process?

A.

The process of changing clothes itself takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Depending on the congestion on that day, there may be some waiting time for changing clothes. It's advisable to allow about 30 minutes of extra time. The final return time is around 5:30 PM and it tends to be crowded near closing time.

Until what time can I return the kimono?

A.

The latest return time is 5:30 PM.

Q.

Do you accept next-day returns?

A.

Yes, we accept next-day returns. You can use the next-day return option for an additional fee of ¥2,000 to ¥5,000 (tax included). Customers using the next-day return option are required to provide an additional deposit of ¥5,000 per person (tax included) as a security deposit. We kindly ask you to prepare the security deposit in advance. Regarding the security deposit, it will be refunded when there are no issues such as stains, damage, or missing items during the kimono return. Please apply after your understanding and agreement.

Can the representative return the kimonos for the group?

A.

We apologize, but we do not accept the return of kimonos when they are not worn.

Q.

What happens if I can't return the kimono on time?

A.

Extension fees (¥1,000 per 10 minutes per kimono) will be charged if you return late. If we are unable to contact you and you do not return, we may close the store.

Is there anything I need for same-day kimono rental?

A.

Nothing in particular is needed. In the winter, it's useful to have innerwear like Heattech for warmth. It can help you stay warm.

Q.

I'm a woman with a height of over 180cm or under 150cm. Can I still rent a kimono?

A.

We offer kimono rentals in larger sizes and can accommodate your needs. Our dressing experts will adjust the kimono to fit you, so even those with smaller body types won't face issues. The preta kimono and yukata have a length of 165cm to 168cm, and antique kimonos have a length of 158cm to 168cm. However, for taller individuals, the length of the kimono may be adjusted or the hem might become shorter depending on the chosen kimono.

Can I choose my obi (sash) and accessories?

A.

The kimono and obi come as a set and are generally not interchangeable. Complimentary accessories such as pouches are provided randomly. However, you are free to choose optional accessories. As for hair ornaments, our dressing experts and stylists will suggest suitable options to match your kimono or yukata.

How long does it take from arrival to departure?

A.

It takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes to get ready for departure. This includes the time for check-in, payment, choosing your kimono or yukata, and preparing your belongings for outdoor activities. During the busy period in March, the time to departure may vary.

How long does it take for kimono dressing and hair styling?

A.

Kimono dressing: Approximately 15 to 20 minutes, yukata dressing: Approximately 15 to 20 minutes, hair styling: Approximately 15 minutes.

Can you arrange the obi (sash)?

A.

Our dressing experts will consider factors like color and patterns and arrange the obi for you.

Q.

Is it possible for a woman to wear a men's kimono?

A.

It is possible, but it will be done as part of the men's plan with its associated pricing.

Can I get makeup done?

A.

We do not provide makeup services. Please come to our location with your makeup already done.

Q.

For the Basic Plan, can I get a simple hair set?

A.

No, we do not offer any hair styling services. Additionally, we do not allow self-hair styling within our premises. Please prepare your hair styling at home.

Q.

Is hair styling included in the Student Discount Plan and Couple's Plan?

A.

Yes, both the Kimono Couple's Plan and Kimono Hair Set Student Discount Plan include hair styling and hair accessories as part of the plan.

Q.

Can I choose my own hair styling?

A.

We offer a hair menu from which you can make a selection. For more details, please refer to our Hair Set Gallery.

Q.

Can I borrow hair accessories?

A.

Customers who use the Hair Set Plan are provided with hair accessories free of charge. Basic Plan customers can also borrow them for an additional fee of +500 yen (tax included).

Q.

Can I use my own hair accessories for hair styling?

A.

We apologize, but we do not allow customers to use their own hair accessories to avoid issues such as damage or stains. Please understand this in advance.

Q.

What if my hair is short (long)? Can I still get a hair set?

A.

Yes, it is possible. Our stylists will arrange your hair according to its length.

Q.

Can I bring my own curling iron or straightener and do my own styling?

A.

We do not provide a space for self-hair styling for Basic Plan customers. If you plan to do your own hair styling, please prepare it in advance at home.

How many hair accessories will be added in the Hair Set Plan?

Generally, we include 1 to 3 hair accessories. The number may vary depending on the stylist's judgment.

Can you provide recommendations for choosing a kimono or yukata?

If you have preferences, our kimono dressing experts and stylists can provide advice.

Do you regularly introduce new kimono and yukata styles?

A.

We purchase new kimono and yukata styles, including trendy ones, approximately every three months. At our Asakusa branch, we offer 400 rental kimonos and 300 rental yukatas. In the Kyoto area, each store provides 300 rental kimonos and 400 rental yukatas.

Q.

Is it possible to rent kimonos during the summer?

A.

During the summer (July to August), we primarily offer rental yukatas and summer kimonos. Only a limited number of antique kimonos are displayed. Starting from September, we gradually transition to showcasing kimonos considering the weather.

If I accidentally soil or damage the rented kimono or yukata, will I be charged for it?

A.

If we discover stubborn stains, blood, holes, scratches, or damage, we may charge you up to 14,000 yen.

Q.

What level of soiling is considered as damage?

A.

We often encounter stains from sauce, shaved ice, or holes caused by cigarette ashes. For more details, please inquire at the store when you visit.

Q.

Is it possible to rent kimonos on rainy days?

A.

Rental is possible on rainy days. Getting wet due to rain is not considered damage. Please be cautious of slipping or accidents.

Q.

Do you offer fox masks (kitsune no omen) at all your stores?

A.

Fox masks are available at all our stores. You can use them for free when posting on Instagram or pay 500 yen (tax included) for use.

Are there specific times when reservations are required for kimono rentals in Kyoto?

A.

During the spring cherry blossom viewing season, autumn foliage season, and New Year, including our store, kimono rental shops tend to be very crowded, so we recommend making a reservation.

A.

For kimono rentals, many customers explore the Asakusa area and visit various attractions. For yukata rentals, customers often go to Disneyland, enjoy yukata discount events, attend fireworks festivals, summer festivals, and other events.
