I rented a kimono in Gion and enjoyed visiting different cafés!

I rented a kimono at Rikawafuku Gion Store and enjoyed strolling through the streets of Gion!
Kimono Rental Styling Points
I selected a refined and elegant kimono and obi. It was pink, but not too flashy, giving off a sophisticated vibe.
My hairstyle was also arranged to match, with an updo!
I wore two headbands layered together, which I had brought myself.
Cafe Hopping Near Gion-Shijo
Once I was ready in my rented kimono, I took a short walk from Rikawafuku Gion Store to stroll around the Gion-Shijo area.
While walking through the streets, I discovered a shop with a beautiful courtyard!
In the back, there was a tea specialty café called Tea Veneer.
There, I ordered an afternoon tea set and matcha French toast.
The French toast was thick, yet soaked through perfectly — absolutely delicious!
I also loved making my own nama-yatsuhashi with apple compote inside, which felt so Kyoto-like!
There was also a cookie shaped like a five-story pagoda, which you can take home! It was wrapped beautifully.
After that, I enjoyed a stroll while admiring the streets of Gion-Shijo.
Cafe Hopping Around Kawaramachi
After some walking, I took a break at Gion Sakai.
It’s located across the Kamo River from Gion, past Kawaramachi Station, and straight along Shijo Street.
They serve drinks in a cup of your choice, and I picked this autumn-themed one!
They also served matcha baumkuchen as a tea sweet, so I had a very relaxing time.
The atmosphere of the shop and the staff were calm and wonderful! After resting, I resumed my kimono stroll.
Since I had plans later, I returned the kimono earlier than planned. Even though the time was short, I was very satisfied!
If you want to skip major tourist spots and focus on visiting cute shops and cafes, a short-time kimono rental is also a great option!
No matter where you walk, the scenery of Kyoto perfectly matches the kimono — it’s truly beautiful and makes you want to come back again and again!
I’m already excited about which kimono I’ll wear next time!
