[Kawaramachi Area] “Game Panic Kyoto” – Close to Honnoji Temple

After visiting Honnoji Temple, a place associated with Oda Nobunaga, we recommend taking purikura (photo stickers) at Game Panic Kyoto.

It’s only about 290 meters away, so you’ll arrive in approximately 4 minutes.

Exit Honnoji Temple and head straight on Teramachi Street, then turn left at the end and make a right turn at the corner of the au shop.

Continue straight and you’ll find it on the opposite side after passing MOVIX Kyoto.

In addition to the latest purikura machines, there are various games like crane games, music games, and medal games, so you can have some fun while taking photos.

The friendly staff with a hospitable spirit will often place prizes in an easily accessible spot if they notice you’re interested in a particular item while playing the crane game.

[Kawaramachi Area] “Round One Kyoto Kawaramachi” – Convenient Access from Gion

Next, we’d like to introduce “Round One Kyoto Kawaramachi,” located about 1 km from Gion Shijo and Hanami-koji.

It’s only about a 10-minute walk from Kawaramachi, so it’s within walking distance if you want to extend your kimono stroll.

In the amusement corner, they have popular purikura machines that are loved by students and young people, allowing you to take cute photos in your kimono outfit!

While playing bowling or billiards in a kimono might be a bit challenging, you can take a break and enjoy karaoke while resting if you’ve been walking around Gion for a while.

【Karasuma Shijo Area】”a-cho” – Where You Can Take Purikura After Alteration

In Kyoto’s Shijo Teramachi, the game center “a-cho” has as many machines and the latest models as a purikura specialty store.

The popular model “Aoharu” is also available here.

Located just 250 meters from Nishiki Market, you can reach the purikura in about a 3-minute walk!

From Nishiki Market, go straight on Kajiya-cho, turn right at the corner of ABC Mart Kyoto Teramachi Store, and continue on Teramachi-dori.

You will see Sukiyaki Kimura on your right, and it’s right next to it.

They are open from 10 AM to 12 AM, so even if you want to take purikura in a kimono late at night, you’ll still have time.

If you choose Gion Kimono Rental Rikka, you can also use next-day return service for peace of mind!

Furthermore, “A-cho” is equipped with hair irons and dressers, so you can fix your makeup if it gets smudged during your food adventure in Nishiki Market or your stroll in Gion.

That’s reassuring, isn’t it?♪

【Kyoto Station Area】”Purisalon,” the Nearest to Kyoto Station

If you prefer to take purikura as close to Kyoto Station as possible, we recommend “Purisalon.”

It’s located just 600 meters from Kyoto Tower, so you’ll reach it in about 8 minutes. Purisalon is situated inside Kyoto Avanti.

When you enter Kyoto Station from Kyoto Tower and exit from the Hachijo Gate, you’ll see Kyoto Avanti right in front of you. Purikura is on the basement floor.

They have popular machines like “Korekawa” and regularly introduce the latest models, so it’s a must-visit!

After taking purikura, you can go shopping, have a meal at a restaurant or cafe, and relax.

When you’re strolling in a kimono, your feet can get tired, so it’s nice to have places like this inside shopping malls.

【Kyoto Station Area】Capture Savings with Movie Tickets at “Namco Ion Mall Kyoto”

This place is also conveniently located near Kyoto Station, about 750 meters away, so you can reach it in about a 10-minute walk.

Exit the station from the Hachijo Gate and head west along Hachijo Street.

Here, you’ll also find the popular model “Aoharu” available.

After crossing Hachijo Street, continue straight ahead.

When you see a Seven-Eleven on the right side across the road, make a left turn just before the traffic signal.

Continue on Nishido-in Street, pass the Matsushita Institute, and you will soon see Aeon Mall Kyoto.

“Namco Ion Mall Kyoto Store” is located on the 4th floor.

Various purikura machines are installed, so you’ll surely find your favorite one.

Aside from purikura, Kyoto offers plenty of unique activities!

Moreover, if you show the staff your same-day movie ticket from the 5th-floor cinema “T-Joy Kyoto,” you can get a 100 yen discount on purikura♪

Be sure to use it when you watch a movie.

Since it’s located within Aeon Mall, you can also do some shopping or take a short break after taking purikura here.

If you’ve rented a kimono near Kyoto Station, please consider stopping by.

【Uzumasa Area】”Playland Kyoto,” the Closest to Toei Uzumasa Eigamura

Situated approximately midway between Kyoto Station and Arashiyama, “Playland Kyoto” is located 2.1 km away from Toei Uzumasa Eigamura.

It’s recommended for those who want to take purikura after visiting the movie village in the Uzumasa area.

First, after leaving the movie village, take a bus heading towards Kyoto Station from Uzumasa Higashiguchi (bus stop).

When you get off at Koshinmae, which is 2 stops away, head south.

Pass by McDonald’s and Kura Sushi on your left, and when you see Kyoto Gaidai Nishi High School on your right, Kyoto Family is right across the street.

Enter from the West Entrance and you’ll find Playland Kyoto on the 3rd floor.

Playland Kyoto offers a purikura point card benefit.

After taking photos, take the stickers to the counter, and you’ll receive 1 point for each sticker.

When you accumulate 10 points, you can take purikura once for free, so be sure to collect them!

Additionally, becoming a free email newsletter member allows you to enjoy special benefits and services such as “Double Purikura Stamp Day every Wednesday,” so it’s highly recommended!

【Nishikyo Area】Recommended After Visiting Mibudera Temple – “Plaza Capcom Kyoto”

After touring Mibudera Temple, which has connections to the Shinsengumi, it’s recommended to visit “Plaza Capcom Kyoto.”

The distance from Mibudera Temple is about 2.1 km.

Once your sightseeing is complete, take a bus heading towards Shijo Torimaru from Mibudera Michi (bus stop).

After getting off at Nishioji Matsubara, which is 4 stops away, continue west on Matsubara Street.

When you see Nishiin Hoikuen (Nishiin Nursery) on your right, make a left turn at the front, and you’ll find Aeon Mall Kyoto Gojo.

From the East Entrance, head to the 3rd floor to reach Plaza Capcom Kyoto.

Plaza Capcom Kyoto also has crane games, so you can take purikura together with the prizes you win!

The interior is well-lit and safe for girls to enter even when they’re alone.

It’s a place where both kids and adults can have fun, making it just right for going with friends or family!

【Nijo Area】”The Third Planet Kyoto” Near Nijo Castle

If you want to take purikura in a kimono after visiting Nijo Castle, “The Third Planet BiVi Kyoto Nijo Store” is recommended.

It’s located about 1.5 km away, and you can reach it in approximately 18 minutes on foot.

If you enjoy walking, it’s a manageable distance, but wearing a kimono can be challenging, so I recommend using the train to make it easier.

After leaving Nijo Castle, take the train from Nijo-jo-mae Station towards Uzumasa Tenjingawa and get off at Nijo Station.

When you exit on the west side, you’ll find BiVi Kyoto Nijo Store immediately on your left. The purikura area is on the 2nd floor.

Most places tend to open at 10 AM, but this one opens at 9 AM, so it’s also recommended if you want to take purikura early!

【Arashiyama Area】Unfortunately, There’s No Place Left for Purikura in Arashiyama.

The Benihime (Akahime) Arashiyama Main Store was the only souvenir shop in the Arashiyama area where you
could take purikura.

However, it appears that they currently do not have purikura machines installed.

Kyoto has strict regulations, and finding places with purikura machines can be challenging.

Currently, it seems there are no locations to take purikura in Arashiyama.

We will update this information as soon as it becomes available.

Are There Any Tips for Taking Purikura in a Kimono?

Disney with Yukata Rental

Now that we know where we can take purikura, the next thing that comes to mind is “how can we capture our kimono look beautifully?” and “how can we take cute, Instagram-worthy purikura?”

Here, we’d like to introduce tips for taking purikura beautifully in kimono and recommend some poses.

We’ll also share some tips for getting that Instagram-worthy shot, so feel free to use them as a reference!

Start with a Diagonal Pose for a Beautiful Shot

First of all, when taking photos, not limited to purikura, the basic technique when wearing kimono is to take a “diagonal pose.”

When you’re facing the purikura camera, angle your body slightly.

At this moment, think of pulling your chin and lifting your chest, maintaining good posture.

When taking photos with two or more people, stand at a slight angle and gently place your hand on the arm of the friend in front. This will create a beautiful shot.

There are plenty of cute poses, but after renting a kimono, try to make smaller and more elegant movements than usual.

Classic poses for a smaller face are recommended, but consider the refined insect-bite pose or the smaller finger heart pose over the regular heart pose ♡ to look elegant.

Pay attention to showcasing the sleeves beautifully.

Also, since you’re wearing a kimono, it’s recommended to capture the obi (sash) with a backward glance pose.

And the key to making it Instagram-worthy is in moderation when it comes to doodles!

Even if the shot looks beautiful, excessive doodling can hide the kimono’s pattern or make it cluttered, which is not ideal for Instagram. Keep it subtle.

When renting a kimono and taking purikura, pay attention to your body posture, elegant poses, and subtle doodles for the perfect shot.
