Reviews from overseas about the Arashiyama store

  • Nicely done both kimono & hair styling!

Nicely done both kimono & hair styling! They offer men & women kimono in separate buildings but paying together would save u 10% for each couple. The price is relatively high in comparison with other stores (6000 yen vs 5000 yen) but the quality received is worth it.
Note: cash only & top up required for extra accessorize

  • The girl showed us how to book, and using translation app it was not too bad.

The girl showed us how to book, and using translation app it was not too bad. We booked for me and my 2 daughters. You are told what are extras and we got umbrella for 500 yen. It was good experience, even walked up to monkey park, bamboo forest and Otagi temple with the kimono. The hair styling is worth it! 60,00 yen with the hair. Can rent for whole day. Book online or through their QR code at the door. Thank you we had a great experience!

  • I highly recommend this shop for their service.

We stumbled upon the kimono hire shop completely by accident, but we were looking for a place to hire for the day.
We were offered prices for basic hire with and without hair styling and opted to get the hair styling as we wanted to look the part!
The staff were very attentive and offered help with the choosing of kimono.
We were then ushered up stairs where we were given bags to put our belongings and normal clothing in before stripping to our undergarments and donning traditional layers of dress. The staff were very efficient and meticulous with our presentation. We were quickly dressed and then sent to get our hair done. There were a range of styles and hair ornaments to choose from and the stylist was very efficient.
We felt the price was extremely reasonable as it was all day hire and included hair styling, and i felt wonderful walking around Arashiyama.I highly recommend this shop for their service.
